Pursue Balance: Providing Leadership in Personal Transformation and Environmental Stewardship

Sarah Mitchell

Sarah Mitchell was brought up in rural upstate N.Y. and spent much of her youth raising farm animals and playing in the woods. In 1995 Sarah moved to Prescott, AZ to attend Prescott College and graduated in 1999 with a BA degree in Wilderness Therapy. While attending Prescott Sarah studied the effects of the natural environment upon human emotions, creating a program for addicts and alcoholics to utilize while engaged in the treatment process.

Upon graduation she moved to Jackson where she had the opportunity to learn from at-risk youth residing in residential treatment facilities. After working with youth for five years, Sarah went back to school and got her Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Colorado State University and began working for Teton County as their Grant Writer. In the winter of 2007, the County gave Sarah the opportunity to assist in launching the Town and County Energy Efficiency Initiative, aimed at reducing local government’s use of fossil fuels and energy use by 10% by 2010.

The culmination of these experiences, along with her own belief in the importance of finding balance in life, led Sarah to her work with Pursue Balance. Sarah has lived in Jackson since 1999 and enjoys working and recreating with the wonderful people of the community.
